(Lucy in wedding attire.)Phew! I have been a bit nervous about playing for this wedding this weekend for some time now, because I have such a hard time getting to the piano these days. The other thing that is hard about playing for a wedding is that you are not only paying attention to playing well, but you have to watch the flow, and know when to quit so that be-silked and be-tuxed people aren't standing around while you flourish on. But all went well, better even than expected, and it sounded like Lucy did fine while I was playing. It is difficult to have to feed a baby so often while at a wedding. We were fortunate in that we had the nursery available to us for feeding, and I was so grateful. Lucy has not been the most cooperative eater lately, so it is tough to nurse her in awkward places. But the wedding went off without a hitch.
To those who do not know who I'm talking about-- this is a gal that I've mentored for about 4 years. I hired her to work for me at Biola, and she worked for me for 3 years, which is like dog years for a college kid. =) She met her new husband their freshman year, and I met him really early on and have walked through their relationship with them. It's an amazingly humble thing to realize that someone really listens to what you say. Thankfully much of what has come out of my mouth when talking with her is just passed on from some really wise people who have invested in my life. I am so grateful that God used me in Amanda's life. She is a sweet gal, and I think they have a shot at making a healthy marriage.
We spent the rest of the weekend recovering. Really great sermon at church--fodder for another blog entry if I get to it. Made the Kaluah cake again, or as I like calling it, the "Better than Sin" cake. =)
Here is Lucy swimming in the pool for the first time!!

beautiful baby girl!!!!! Glad the wedding went well! We have one this weekend that Fred is playing in. It's going to be something. A 10 course dinner! WHOA! Big deal for an OK wedding!
Ten courses?? WOW! Can I come? I'll fly out! =) Just kidding.
Lucy, is that a 2 piece you're wearing?

Hi Jenn,
I must confess that I've enjoyed catching up on your life through your blog. Your site is connected to Susan's so the other day I enjoyed reading through your days. (I thought I'd say "hello" back to you in response to your comment from Susan's blog.) It's been fun to see a sneak peak into your life through your blog. Lucy is simply adorable! You look like you are really enjoying motherhood. It is a treasure and the time goes by so quickly!
Fun to hear from you! By the way, I am curious about how you are connected to Susan? I don't remember you two as close friends while at Biola, but the Biola bubble does create its own little world, doesn't it?! My connection to Susan was through the ed. dept. and then we spent our first two years teaching together at Fairgrove Elementary- we've kept in touch ever since.
Blessings,
Amy VB
Hi, Amy!
So good to hear from you! Saw your kids'pictures the other day at your mom's desk. =) Such cute little Dutch kids!
I started reading Susan's blog through Kristen Day. I moved into Susan's room when she got married, but didn't know her more than a hello. Funny how blogs can bring people together!
Hi Jenn,
Life does take us in funny little circles. Did you remember that Kristen Day was in my S.O.S. group the year that I was an S.O.S. leader when you where my suite mate our Sophmore year?! Okay, remind me how you know Kristen-were you friends before roomates, what year was that? My Biola years are all so blurry in my mind!
The world of blogging is really quite new to me. I'd never really heard of it until Susan started hers. It is a great way to stay in touch with long distance friends and it is kinda funny to be able to connect to the friends of friends blogs...It can be quite addictive reading...
Glad to hear you saw my mom the other day. She loves her job! She also loves her grandkids. She is quite the proud Grandma, course I'm pretty proud of my cute kiddos too! Being a mom is such a fun adventure. It just gets better and better.
Blessings,
Amy VB
