Need advice

What do I do about Lucy standing up in the grocery store cart? We haven't done much spanking yet... we're doing more of the "remove, talk, then distract" system, as that often seems to
work the best. However, I'm not against "minor pain" as my mom calls it, like a pinch on the arm... but I don't know what you do when you're out. I'm also open to recommendations of books for toddlers.

With the girls our rule is, if you stand up you then get moved to the front of the cart and buckled in for the rest of the trip. They don't like being up there most of the time so that works for us.

They do get one warning, which I usually do the "1...2...3..." A book I would recommend is "1..2..3..Magic" and also "Parenting with Love and Logic". Like with any parenting book thus far, some great ideas, and some hokie ones, but hey, you take what works for you and who cares about the rest! =)

I would offer the Bud's Hand of Iron if I thought it would help. :)

Have you tried giving her something to munch that takes a loooong time? Sometimes I buy a big pretzel at the bakery outiside our grocery store, and that occupies the girls in the cart for most of the time.

Duct tape.

LOL! Yes, how I would love to be able to get away with that some days! Duct tape can fix anything!
